A roaring fire at Christmas is bliss. With all the family around, the fire usually becomes a focal point, with everyone gathering around the fireplace. With Christmas just around the corner, we thought we’d share some of our favourite pastimes to do around the fire.
Play a good board game!
Whether it’s a traditional game such as Scrabble or monopoly, or a slightly messy one such as, ‘pie face’ - get all the family involved, it will be sure to bring a lot of laughter and fun for all, plus you’ll be nice and snug by the fire.
Snuggle up and watch a film
Grab a hot chocolate or a glass of red, light a few candles and snuggle up and watch a classic film with the fire roaring - cosy!
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Roasting your favourite foods doesn't just have to be outside over a campfire. Have a look at our winter cooking recipe ideas for how to roast Chestnuts with all the family.
Roast marshmallows
If chestnuts don’t take your fancy, why not roast marshmallows and make S’mores - all you need is marshmallows, digestive biscuits and milk chocolate - a sweet treat for all the family to enjoy.
Get ready for Father Christmas
It may be a little early now, but the night before Christmas this is great to do with the little ones. Be sure to put out a glass of sherry, a mince pie and not forgetting a carrot for the reindeer!
